Welcome to my ePortfolio for Business Communication. This website highlights the work I completed throughout the semester and demonstrates how my writing, communication, and professional skills developed over time. Each section of this portfolio represents a different area of workplace communication that is important in a professional environment, including job application materials, formal correspondence, teamwork, and long-form business writing. Throughout this course, I learned that effective business communication is not only about presenting information clearly, but also about understanding the audience, using professionalism, and organizing ideas in a way that is persuasive and easy to follow. Before taking this class, I mainly focused on completing assignments, but now I understand how formatting, tone, structure, and rhetorical strategies such as ethos, pathos, and logos can greatly impact the effectiveness of a message. The documents included in this portfolio show my ability to communicate professionally in different situations. My résumé, cover letter, and thank-you letter demonstrate how to present qualifications and personal experiences in a way that appeals to employers. The group project report highlights my ability to collaborate with others while contributing to a larger business document. The business correspondence section demonstrates my understanding of formal business writing and rhetorical strategies. Overall, this ePortfolio serves as a collection of my strongest work from the semester and demonstrates the communication skills I will continue to use in my future academic, athletic, and professional career.
